Device Freezes & Audio Issues

Always use the USB cable included with your order, as it is designed to support the data connection required for CarPlay. In rare cases of a faulty cable, you may try a different high-quality data-capable USB cable. Also, make sure there are no other phones connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth or USB.

Does AutoLinkr work while driving?

Yes — AutoLinkr continues to function while driving. Navigation, music, and supported apps work as expected.

While AutoLinkr provides the capability to access additional features, drivers are responsible for obeying local traffic laws and practicing safe driving at all times.

Does the AutoLinkr™ work with both CarPlay and Android Auto?

Yes, the AutoLinkr™offers two models: one for Apple CarPlay and another for Android Auto. Please ensure you choose the correct model when purchasing to ensure compatibility with your smart phone?

Does AutoLinkr work with Tesla?

No. Teslas do not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Does AutoLinkr work with BMW?

Most BMWs are not compatible because BMW uses a proprietary CarPlay system.

Only select BMW models with wired CarPlay may work, and compatibility is not guaranteed.

Does AutoLinkr work with both iPhone and Android?

Yes. AutoLinkr supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Does AutoLinkr have GPS?

AutoLinkr uses GPS data from your phone, delivered through the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection. This allows navigation apps like Google Maps or Waze to function normally on your vehicle’s display.

Do I need an app to use AutoLinkr?

No app is required for basic use.

Some features (updates, settings, streaming apps) may require installing apps on the AutoLinkr device itself, not your phone.

Do I need WiFi to use AutoLinkr?

No — Wi-Fi is only required for streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, or Hulu.

For most users, AutoLinkr connects using a phone hotspot or the vehicle’s built-in Wi-Fi, if available.

Navigation, music, and basic functions will still work without Wi-Fi.

Issues Connecting With Ford Vehicle

Why this happens

Some Ford vehicles—particularly models using the SYNC 4 or SYNC 4A infotainment system (such as F-150 XLT)—do not always automatically enable third-party CarPlay devices, even when the device is properly connected and receiving power.

In these cases, the AutoLinkr may be detected by the vehicle but remains disabled at the software level, resulting in:

  • No CarPlay screen appearing
  • No response on the display
  • The device appearing inactive despite being plugged in

This is a Ford SYNC behavior, not a hardware failure.

How to Resolve It

If your Ford vehicle has SYNC 4 / SYNC 4A, follow these steps carefully:

  1. On your vehicle’s SYNC screen, tap Settings. If you see a Home icon instead, tap Home, then Settings
  2. Select Phone List
  3. Look for TheAutoLinkr Pro in the list of devices
  4. Select your phone from the list
  5. Tap Enable

Once enabled, the AutoLinkr should connect normally.

How do I install the AutoLinkr™?

AutoLinkr™ is incredibly easy to install. Simply plug the device into your car's USB port, connect it to your smartphone via Bluetooth, and you're all set!

My Device Won't Connect (Red Light Blinking)

The most common reasons are:

  • Using your own USB cable instead of the included cable
  • Your phone is still paired directly to the car’s CarPlay
  • Another phone is connected via Bluetooth or USB

(Using the wrong cable is the #1 cause.)

MOST COMMON CAUSE: USING A DIFFERENT USB CABLE

Using your own or a third-party USB cable is the most common reason for a blinking red light. Even if another cable powers the device, it may not support the data transfer required for CarPlay.

Solution: Always use the USB cable included with your order.

Plug AutoLinkr into the same USB port normally used for factory Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

SECOND MOST COMMON CAUSE: PHONE STILL CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO VEHICLE'S CARPLAY

If your phone is still connected directly to your vehicle’s CarPlay, it can override the AutoLinkr connection. Your vehicle can only connect to one CarPlay source at a time. AutoLinkr must be the primary CarPlay connection.

SOLUTION:

STEP 1 – RESET CONNECTIONS ON YOUR PHONE

• Go to Bluetooth settings and forget/remove your vehicle

• Go to Settings > General > CarPlay / Android Auto

• Forget/remove your vehicle from CarPlay or Android Auto

STEP 2 – RESET CONNECTIONS ON YOUR VEHICLE

• Go to the vehicle’s Bluetooth settings and forget/remove your phone

• In CarPlay settings, remove your phone and any other saved CarPlay devices

STEP 3 – RECONNECT AUTOLINKR (IMPORTANT STEP)

• Connect the USB-C end to the AutoLinkr device

• Plug the USB-A end into the factory CarPlay USB port (not a charge-only port)

• Confirm you are using the included cable

• Wait 20–60 seconds

• If it does not connect automatically, open Apple CarPlay on the vehicle display

• Android users should still select Apple CarPlay

STEP 4 – CONFIRM ON VEHICLE DISPLAY (IF NEEDED)

• If you see a device labeled “iPhone,” select it

• Choose “Enable Apple CarPlay” when prompted

• The AutoLinkr interface should appear shortly

IF THE RED LIGHT IS STILL BLINKING

• Unplug the AutoLinkr device

• Check for vehicle software updates

• If no updates are available, reset vehicle settings to factory defaults

• Power the vehicle completely off for 2 minutes

• Restart the vehicle

• Plug AutoLinkr back in using the included cable

• Allow up to 2 minutes for configuration

VEHICLE COMPATIBILITY NOTE

Some vehicles — most commonly BMW, Mercedes, and certain GMC models — can be more sensitive during setup. This does not automatically mean the vehicle is incompatible.

If the issue continues, please contact support and provide:

• Vehicle make, model, and year

• Confirmation the vehicle has factory CarPlay

• A short video showing the setup and blinking red light

What’s the difference between Pro and Elite models?

Pro: Fast performance, 16GB RAM, ideal for most users

Elite: More storage, higher performance, split screen capability and more advanced interface - best for heavy streaming & multitasking.

Why does my phone connect to CarPlay instead of AutoLinkr?

Your phone may be automatically reconnecting to the vehicle’s native CarPlay.

You’ll need to:

  • Forget the vehicle in Bluetooth settings
  • Plug AutoLinkr in first
  • Let AutoLinkr establish the CarPlay session

Still having issues with AutoLinkr?

If you’ve followed all setup and troubleshooting steps and are still experiencing issues, please email support@theautolinkr.com with:

  • A short video showing the issue
  • A detailed explanation of what’s happening
  • Your vehicle year, make, and model
  • The phone type you’re using (iPhone or Android)

Our support team will review and help you as quickly as possible.
